Halloween, it starts....

Saturday night we had some friends over for a little Halloween party. It was casual, and lots of fun. Macy was so excited to get into costume. She was the cutest little kitty cat.
No pics of Chris and I, but we were construction workers.
We mostly ate and visited, but did do the donut on a string game. The kids are getting older, and they thought it was so fun.
Macy fascinated with what is going on.
Except when it was her turn, she wanted to use her hands.
Which of course we let her do in the end. How could you refuse that cute face.
Again, no pics of the adults, but we did all do it too. I've got to get better at being behind the camera.
Anyways, preschool party tomorrow, and then trick or treating. Happy Halloween to all!

Animals

A couple of weeks ago Aunt Crystal called us to let us know a petting zoo and horse ranch near her place was having a free open house. We were happy to meet up with her, and cousins Clark and Bruce. The petting zoo was really good, my battery died, so I didn't get many good pictures. Macy loved the animals and had no fear going up to them. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

I included this last picture because the girl below is such an animal herself, in fact, she pretends to be at least three different animals a day, and we have to address her as that animal. Crazy girl!

Go Esks Go!

On Friday we went to our annual Edmonton Eskimos Football game. We think it was the warmest night we've had as we usually have snow and are bundled up in our winter gear. It was a nice change! Unfortunately they lost and it wasn't a particularly exciting game (no killer half-time show like last year’s Vanilla Ice), but it was still a lot of fun and nice to get out as just the two of us.
Of course we got hotdogs, which actually I think are really good.

Fall Festival

In September we headed to the Mill Creek Fall Festival. I love it. The Mill Creek Tree farm, right next to our old house, puts it on every year. Chris was busy working, but Natasha joined Macy and I for the fun. We did apple tasting, went on a hayride and enjoyed the beautiful fall colours, did a craft and scavenger hunt, and got some free candy.

Hot

It's the middle of September, but we are having some HOT weather. Yesterday reached 30 C. and it is supposed to be more of the same all weekend long. I had been wanting to go to one of the city's outdoor pools this summer, but we got so busy we never did. So yesterday we seized the opportunity and went to the new Queen Elizabeth pool. It was great! The heat isn't so bad, when you're in the water. Plus, since Macy is so awesome, she even got her photo taken for the Edmonton Journal.
Overcame her little fear of water-slides...and this one was fast!

First Day of Preschool!

Macy’s first day of Preschool was on Tuesday, September 10th. She is attending Fun Fit Kids with Sunshine Park Preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 11:15am. She was SO excited and really, so was I. No tears or fears from these girls! Even driving home today from dropping her off I was just excited. I love milestones. I’m already excited to send her off to kindergarten, and that’s two years away!
Anyway, we of course took pictures, and there are lots, but she’s such a cute kid!
  Excited?
She even got a new Dora backpack. The old one doesn't fit everything she needs to bring!
 Standing by her hook.
When I picked her up after her first day, she was happy to see me, but wanted to stay. I promised we would be back. Later when we were talking about what she did she told me they sang ‘Wheels on the Bus’, and then she said to me “and I didn’t ask for ‘Book of Mormon Stories.’” I laughed. She is always singing ‘Book of Mormon Stories’ at home, and I think I mentioned to Chris once that her teachers would probably look at her weird if she asks to sing it at preschool. This girl is smart, she hears and remembers everything! I gotta watch out!
Anyway, we'll see what I do with my 'free time' sans Macy. Either way, I think this is going to be a fun year!

Medicine Hat, August 16-18, 2013

In August, Macy and I had the opportunity to travel down to Medicine Hat to see Grandma and Grandpa Cutts, a weekend with them, who could pass it up! Sadly Chris had to work, so it was a girl’s trip down. Macy was great. It was a nice 5 hour drive, and since it was just the two of us, we didn't have any work schedule to work around. We arrived at about 4:30 on Friday. Grandma and Grandpa were waiting for us at the Medicine Hat Lodge. We checked out our room and went straight for the pool. It was a great pool area. They had some pretty good water-slides too, Grandpa, Grandma, and I enjoyed them (especially Grandpa), but no amount of convincing could get Macy to go (since we've been home though, she talks about going on the water-slide with Grandpa, maybe next time).
After a quick dip, we met up with Uncle Robin, Aunt Jeana, Aunt Terry, Aunt Pam, Christine, Uncle Chris, and Christian. We went to dinner at the Cheesecake Café. It was delicious. We got some free samples of cheesecake at the beginning, and they were good. After dinner we went back to the hotel and Macy went to sleep and I relaxed.
Saturday was my great Aunt Melba’s 90th birthday party. We spent the morning swimming, and then went to the party at the hotel restaurant. It was fun to meet more family and hear fun stories of Aunt Melba. I think there were about 60 guests, almost all her nieces and nephews, and everyone had great memories of their Aunt Melba. After the party we stopped by my great Aunt Phyllis’ house for more visiting. Aunt Phyllis has an awesome backyard which kept Macy very entertained. We had a quick bite to eat at Wendy’s for dinner, Macy convinced her grandparents to take her swimming once more (it wasn’t very hard), and then it was bed. We woke up Sunday, enjoyed free hotel breakfast buffet (which we also enjoyed on the Saturday), got ready to go, and drove back to Edmonton. And then on Monday, we moved….

Here are some pictures of the fun that was had.

We stopped in Strathmore to go to the bathroom and stretch our legs. We took a very short walk and found this train car in the parking lot next to the gas station.
Macy and her baby waving to you!
Swimming!
Just hanging out with Grandpa.
The big chair in the hotel lobby.
Apparently we were squishing Macy and she didn’t like it.
We’re so glad we made the trip. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma for all the fun!
