IT IS DONE!

For the last three weeks of school I have been very busy, my design projects were for both structural and geotechnical engineering. For structural my group designed a 73 meter long bridge over a river and for geotechnical another group designed the foundation for a 14 story building being constructed on the U of A campus. The structural project required an extreme amount of work, but in the end it paid off. This is a 3D video of the drafting that I did in AutoCAD.

Thank you for all the help and support that was given throughout the last 6 years. It feels great to be done.

Star Wars

The Star Wars Identity exhibit has been at the Telus World of Science since November, of course we waited until the last weekend to finally go. But I'm glad we did. It was really cool. I think my favorite part was the art work shown of many of the characters in early development, like Yoda and Chewy. It was cool to see where they started and how they changed. Most of the costumes were one's actually used during filming. The Darth Vadar one is one of the originals. I could feel the force just flowing through it as I passed!

Along the way you could create your own character. You picked the spices and name, and selected various paths having to do with how you were raised, your culture, your character traits, mentors, etc. Check out my hero here (its a link that will bring up my character).
I ended up being a fighter pilot, though the force was very strong in me and I could have been a Jedi. The Emperor of course tried to get me to join the dark side, and I was tempted, but declined.
Chris' character, he became a Jedi.
Mine.

Easter

We had a GREAT Easter weekend. Chris had the Friday and the Monday off and was able to get his school work done ahead of time and spend time with us. It felt like a much needed holiday.
We started it by picking up our brand new car Thursday afternoon. A 2012 VW Passat. This will be for Chris to drive to work. We love it and got a great deal on it!
Friday we went to the Telus World of Science in the morning. After lunch and a quick break at home we went to Uncle Steve's to celebrate Clark's first birthday. Macy was so excited to go to Clark's and sing Happy Birthday to him. She practiced a ton!
Saturday Macy went to her grandparent's in Beaumont while Chris and I went to the Star Wars Identities Exhibit at the museum (pictures and post to follow). Then Saturday night our friends Daley and Desiree came over for dinner, games, and to paint eggs.
The good ones were done by Daley and Desiree...not much artistic talent in our family.
A while since we've actually got a family picture.
Sunday morning the Easter bunny cam and brought our family a little bit of candy (we did very little candy this year, and I liked it!) and hid some eggs. Macy LOVED finding them. At one point after I helped her find some she turned to me, gave me the thumbs up sign and said 'Great job mommy!'
We went to church and then to Beaumont for Easter dinner with the grandparents. No one was up visiting and Steve was out of town, so it was just us and them. But it was very nice and relaxing. We had roast beef, with mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, and fresh buns. Delish.
Monday we went swimming at Millennium Place. Now that Macy fits her puddle jumper, swimming is great. We have so much more freedom and Macy loves swimming on her own. After swimming we checked out Cobs Bread Bakery. We will definitely be making that a tradition. We had baked ham and cheese croissants, and then an apple pastry ring with caramel drizzle. Everything was so fresh and good.
That was our weekend. It was fun. Now Chris is back to finishing up school and we hardly see him...18 days!

From the Archives

Catching up, here are the few pictures we've taken since January.
Walking around the University right before Chris' last semester started. Less than 3 weeks to go, we are excited!!
One of the perks of my job is coming across lots of new recipes. We've made delicious won-ton soup, soft pretzels  jiffy cinnamon rolls, tomato-cucumber salsa, just to name a few. Above is a salt and pepper wing recipe that you bake in the oven. So Good! We had them with fries, veggies, and a pear and spinach salad.
This is from earlier in the year, but we've been having a snowy spring. It is finally starting to melt, but not fast enough!
Macy loves to wear her 'Mighty Macy' cape, hand made from Auntie Pam. It has a superman "M" on the back. She runs around shouting out "Mighty Macy!"

Dora!

It's the first day of spring break and Macy and I have already had a great day! We were efficient this morning and went grocery shopping, made dinner, and made banana muffins. We played, ate lunch, and then went to meet Dora at the Mall.

We did pretty well. We got there early and there was already a big line-up. Just as we got in line we saw Dora and Diego walking by so we waved and said hi. We waited in line for about 30 minutes - but Macy was good about it, and we didn't really have anything else to do. I told Macy she'd need to stand by Dora and smile so I could take her picture. She said she wasn't going to smile. She also wished Boots was there.
After we were done the line up had at least doubled! We stopped quickly at the library and found Macy's favorite book, and headed home.
We look forward to the rest of spring break!

Macy Jane

I’ve needed to do a post about Macy because she is growing and developing so much right now that I want to remember how fun and sweet she is. So here are some things about Macy:
- She talks a lot and learns new words every day.
- Lately she answers you by saying OK. ‘OK Mom’, it is so cute.
- She gives great hugs and kisses before bed.
- She often says, “I love you soooo much”.
- She is a destroyer – she makes you build things, and then immediately destroys it: towers, snowman, hanging monkeys, etc.
- She can’t quiet pronounce the ‘T’ sound and replaces it with an ‘F’ sound. However she likes to talk a lot about trucks, which doesn’t come out sounding too good, especially at church!
- She always makes me laugh and always says “I’m so funny!”
- She getting into watching more movies (the variety is getting better, which is good, since I could probably quote all of 101 Dalmatian)s. She likes Simba, Marty (from Madagascar), Aladdin, and Sid the sloth (from Ice Age).
- She has sweet dance moves.
- She still LOVES Dora the Explorer and is improving her Spanish vocabulary.
- She can almost count to 10 (she skips three a lot), but can count to 6 in Spanish.
- She loves to read books at night. Her favorites are ‘Jumping Jacky’ (one from my youth), and ‘If you give a Cat a Cupcake’, but she likes most. However she is quick to tell you if she doesn’t like one.
- Her favorite foods are still cheese, yogurt, tortillas, and apple sauce (she still eats like a baby).
- She likes having you sing to her and requests songs.
- She’s one awesome kid and we love her!
