Kenora and Night Swimming

We left for Kenora, Ontario after church on Sunday. We stayed in a hotel and had pizza for dinner that night with Grandma and Grandpa and the Richard Cutts family. After dinner the grandparents watched the grandkids while Chris, Richard and Jacquie and I drove around Kenora. It was rainy, so we didn't get out, except to get ice cream! That night we played games, then went to bed.
Monday morning we met up with the Tom Cutts family and headed out to the Island we would stay at for the next four days. We started out around noon. Again, it was rainy and the water was very high. When we got to the island the dock was totally submersed and the water was up above our ankles. It was an adventure! The guys were great and got all our stuff up to the cabin (and there was a lot of stuff). That was when it was decided we had to eat, and eat none stop, because we did not want to bring back all the food and snacks we brought out. (Again, good thing biggest loser is over!). We got used to the cabin and island that day. Our lodgings were great, rustic (read old), but had enough space and beds for us all. We explored the island after dinner with Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle Tom, Uncle Richard, and all the kids. It rained some more on us, and we got eaten alive, but pretty sure everyone had fun.
After the kids were in bed, Grandpa said he was going for a swim (remember it has been cold and rainy all day...and really, all weekend, the water was not warm!) But his kids joined him. The in-laws and Grandma (notice those without true Cutts blood) stayed back, something about them not being able to handle it (or maybe just being smarter than us).
These were the only pictures I got of this day, but they are great!
 The before pictures.
Richard gets two because his faces are so great!
That's Dad's fancy boat in the background.
 And the after pics.
It was cold! But we all jumped in about 3 times, and Tom even swam out a bit!
After our refreshing dip we played games and went to bed, excited for the rest of the week!

Visit With Amy

Amy just sent me some pictures she took of our visit and I love them! So I had to share a few.
Looking a little uncertain! Rachel has definitely just developed stranger danger, it's nothing personal Amy!
Love this one of Rachel (7.5 months) and Winnie (11 months).
Amy is just the greatest! Anyone who knows her will totally agree. Love that we are 'best cousins'!

Vacation Highlights: Winnipeg and Headingley

So here's a quick rundown of our family vacation, week one. Rachel and Val flew out on Wednesday, June 18th and Chris and Macy drove out on the 19th. Macy was a great travelling companion, and the two arrived Thursday evening with the music blaring and in good spirits!
Friday was the wedding and Saturday we (Chris, Val, and Macy) went to a wedding brunch for Alissa and Chris at Alissa's mom's. It was lots of fun and the food was delish! It was catered by Green Gates and very good. Good thing Biggest Loser was over! Sunday was church and playing at Assiniboine Park.
The rest of the week was spent relaxing around Grandma and Grandpa's with outings here and there. Chris checked out the Winnipeg office one morning. We went to Thunder Rapids and did the go-karts. Macy enjoyed it, but wasn't into going very fast. She kept wanting to go slower. We were lapped many times. We spent an afternoon at the Children's museum, and one at the spray park. We also got to see Amy and Chase and Winnie Treanor.  Grandma and Grandpa babysat one night and Chris and I went out to Simon's Cuisine, an authentic Argentinian restaurant. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was delicious. We both really enjoyed it.
Uncle Richard, Aunt Jacquie, and cousins Jacob and Isabelle arrived on Saturday and Macy was excited for cousins.
I don't have too many pictures from this week, so below are the few good ones I got.
Next post, week two in Kenora, lots of pictures!

Assiniboine Park: Weddings and Playgrounds

Our Lamont Family Vacation 2014 started off with my good friend Alissa Lloyd's wedding. They got married June 20th at the Assiniboine Park Pavilion. It was a lovely wedding. The weather and skies were threatening all day, and then cleared about 20 minutes before the ceremony began and was perfect for the rest of the night.
Friends since we were 7 when I took her, the new student, on a school tour of Laidlaw.
While in Winnipeg/Headingley, we spent time enjoying the wonderful children's playground at Assiniboine park. Everyone had fun!
I like to call this picture below our family paparazzi shot, since no one is looking at the camera...and Chris and I are in sunglasses!
Macy's turn...
 Dad's turn!
 Getting into the drumming!
 M: 'I need to run!'
Love the view. What a great park!

Here we go...

Long time no blog! Summer has come and we have been livin' it up! I have so many pictures that I just have been putting off going through them. But it's only going to get worse, so here we go.
Before we left for our summer vacation to Winnipeg and Kenora I did a pretty good job on getting totally updated with the blog. Here are just a few pictures from before we left.
Macy ready for preschool one morning. It was lovely outside, but she insisted on the Dora fleece scarf (courtesy of cousin Sarah!), so I insisted on a picture!
Macy and her preschool teachers, Ms. Randene (above) and Ms. Melanie (below) on her last day of preschool. Macy had a great year. She loved going, loved her teachers, and made great friends (a few of which we have gotten together with a couple of times this summer already). She grew as a person, increasing her vocabulary and understanding of the world around her, and developed more social skills. It has been fun to watch her grow, age 3 to 4 has seen lots of changes. Congrats on finishing a year of preschool Macy!

Slip n' Slide

Enjoying the hot weather and the company of a favorite cousin!
 Macy and Paisley
Macy got some real good distance on the slip n' slide. She just kept sliding and then running around and sliding again. All while screaming, 'It's freezing, it's freezing, I'm so cold!!' with a huge grin on her face and laughter in her voice. It must not have been too cold as she kept going and we had to shut it down when it was time to go.

Smiley Girl

Rachel gives me the best smiles and always brightens my day with them. I just love her!
Rachel and cousin Scarlet (1.5 months younger). This was the best I could get of them!
Oh Macy, no wonder Scarlet's fussin'!
