Baking Woes
I'm 24 years old and married and I can't even make chocolate chip cookies!!! Everytime I make them something goes wrong. Lately they have been very flat and seem to just melt into one large cookie. They taste fine enough, but the desired texture of a home baked cookie just isn't there. I think at one time I could make them, in between figuring out there is a difference between baking soda and baking powder and getting married. Ever since I've been married I haven't quite been able to get them down. What if I have to student teach in a foods class and we do baking?!? So anyways, any tips or sure-fire recipes (though I have tried a couple of those) would be appreciated!!

Look at Alicia's new blog to see my favourite recipe. I'm craving cookies!
I may be a few things -
1. Make sure that you do a good job creaming the butter and the sugar. Don't try and cream cold butter.
2. Decide how long your baking powder has been around. Sometimes in extreme climates it just stops working or expires. If it's older than a few months (maybe 6 or more) get some more.
3. You may want to consider adding just a little bit more flour to make a thicker dough.
These were the tips Martha gave on her show the other day. :)
