For Christmas this year I got a wheat grinder from my in-laws. I was excited to test it out and see what it could do.
Here is my wheat. The Lamont's have a ton of it, so I'll never have to worry about buying any.
My fancy dancy wheat grinder.
Into the mill.
My whole wheat flour.
My first test recipe, apple coffee cake. It turned out well, but I thought it had too much wheaty taste. I tried the wheat flour on a banana cake recipe next and after it tasting too wheaty as well, I was about to give up on my wheat flour for good. But today I wanted to try baking bread for the first time. So I pulled out my wheat flour again, and I'm glad I did.
The bread was delicious. I used half white and half wheat flour, but I think next time I will try more wheat. I don't know, but I don't think you can get too much more domestic than grinding your own flour and making homemade bread!

Wow Valerie - you're like the pioneers!
The bread looks delicious.
Well, I did use my kitchenaid (which I LOVE)..so I guess I could be more domestic and pioneer like if I did it by hand!
So Proud!!!
