On Saturday I was oh so crafty, and I’m pretty of proud of myself! I went to Diane’s ward’s Relief Society Super Saturday. She had ordered these FHE boards for Jennifer and me to do. I did all the assembling and painting. I think I did pretty well considering I’m not a crafty person at all.

I love that! How did you do it? Where did they get the supplies? Are those just stickers or did you paint them. I must know!!
It was actually really easy. The lettering is all pre-done by the company, and they just stick on. We painted the board and the names, and did this antique stain thing. I have no idea where to get the supplies??? Look on the internet. I'll ask Diane if she knows who in the ward did it.
so cute!!! I want one! You are lucky!
This is one thing I actually can offer a little expertise on. :) I've got about a dozen signs now in my house with this vinyl lettering. The company that makes the machines is, of course, based in Utah. The machines that cut out the lettering cost about $2,000 and come with many different fonts and different colors of vinyl. So if you can find someone in your ward or a friend of a friend that has one, you are lucky! I know someone in North Carolina that has one and someone now in Minnesota. We just had a huge enrichment activity last week and I made several Christmas items...3 blocks with the letters JOY on them, a tile with "Love Is Spoken Here" and a clear glass cube with "Noel" on it. If you want me to order something for you, just let me know. I have a connection now. :) She charges a little much (in my opinion). Back when we were in Rexburg, we had a close friend that cut me a really good deal...and we cut the wood ourselves to save money.
Anyway, this is a fun and easy craft--and looks amazing. I love yours, Valerie.
So can you just buy the letters off the internet or do you have to buy the machines? Is it just a die cut machine with vinyl stickers paper?
Also have any of you heard that it is now against church policy to have Super Saturday? Every time I complain about not having crafts at enrichment this lady I know reminds me that it is against church policy and makes me feel bad inside but I don't think it's true. Any info anyone?
Sorry to make you sad Alicia - but I think that is a good thing (the no super saturday). The church is not suppose to ask people to pay to participate in activites. Taylor has had to deal with this with his calling. I think they can violate their tax codes if they do. (Taylor would have more for you).
Wow--very interesting. I had no idea. I just paid money (just the cost for supplies) to do all my crafts....oops.
You might be able to buy the lettering off the internet....I am not sure. Our beloved Porters Craft in Rexburg sold lots of different phrases and the boards pre-cut and sanded. I've never actually seen one of the machines so I don't know how it works. The result is really cool though!
