Suggestions Wanted

I’m starting to get my Christmas decoration organized and set up and I would like to have an Advent Calendar. I don’t have one yet, and I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to make one (preferably not requiring a lot of supplies), or have any cute sayings or poems that would go with it. Any ideas or suggestions, or things you may have seen would be great. Thanks!

Hmmm...advent calendar...I've got a couple of ideas. :)

I've got a very simple one that I bought at the dollar store before I got married that is a wood snowman that holds stars with numbers on it, counting down the days until Christmas.

When I was growing up, my Mom made one that was an oversized stocking that hung on the wall. It had 25 little pockets sewn in rows on it--quilted in all different fabrics...each pocket held 3 pieces of candy--one for each girl each day leading up till Christmas. We LOVED that.

And, my mom just gave me one over Thanskgiving that she got at Bed, Bath and Beyond (I'm not sure if they are in Canada...) it is a large wood decoration that can hang on the wall or sit on a shelf that has a little magenetic door for each day with a number and snowman, snowflake--something--painted on each one...there is just enough room to fit a few pieces of candy in each little door. I'm probably giving you a terrible description, but it is adorable!

So...that's a very long post with ideas that probably don't make much sense. :) I'm sure you'll come up with something great!
