All Done

Part of our relaxing reading week included just that, reading. Chris has finally finished the Harry Potter series. I shouldn't really say finally, cause once he started reading it didn't take him long. He read book 6 and 7 over the week. He actually started book 7 Friday night and then finished it Sunday. I think that was even faster than me!! (granted I had to work). As for me, I read the Twilight book. I have to admit that for about the first 2/3rds of the book I didn't really think it was that great, mostly I thought it was weird and the characters kind of annoyed me. But it did end well and I won't lie, I was up till 2am Saturday morning to finish it. So I'll probably read the next 2 as well, maybe not till summer though.

Driver Wanted!?!?

Yesterday on my way to volunteering at the Jr. High school I had pulled out of my apartment parking lot and realized I had better scrape my windows for a clearer view. So I got out of the car to do it, and when I was done and had turned to get back into the car I saw this small blue car coasting smoothly down the street with nobody in it. I did a double take cause I was totally shocked and thought this is the kind of thing that happens in movies, whats gonna happen?! Just then the driver of the car popped his head up. Apparently he had been bending down to get something on the floor of the passenger side. But seriously, for a minute I thought the car was lacking a certain something needed to function...the driver!

Post Script

I forgot to mention, I brought my digital camera, but when we were out on the hill the batteries died, so I don't have any action pictures. But don't fear. We bought a little disposable camera to take skiing pictures, but we have to do it the old fashion way and wait to get the film developed!

The Trip Overview

On our last day in Jasper we didn't ski, so we took our time waking up, took a sauna and a steam (which by the way I like the sauna much better than the steam room), and then walked around the townsite for a bit. Below, against park caution, I interact with the wildlife.
This is Chris straining cause he has to go to the bathroom. Not really, but if you look closely on the building behind him the sign says Nature Calls, and it is actually public restrooms.

Like I mentioned, we stayed in a pretty nice loft. Her is our kitchenette. We used it for breakfasts and packing lunches, but we went out to eat at night, which was nice, since we were both pretty tired after the day of boarding and skiing.

The living room of the loft. We had a fire one night, which was cozy, as we watched the lunar eclipse. Check out the flat screen TV.

Chris getting a shot in on the stairs, and finally the bedroom upstairs. It also had a TV, not a flat screen, but good enough. Even though we both read a lot over the break, we don't have cable so I did watch a bit of TV. Mostly reruns of Seinfeld and Friends, but classics.

Cardston Pictures

This is us outside the Cardston Temple. It was a nice day. Lots of southern Alberta wind, but at least it wasn't raining!!

Somehow I was holding the bride's flowers for a moment, so I thought I'd take a picture. They were pretty flowers.

Chris and I at the Remington Carriage Musuem in Cardston. They had a family dinner there. It was actually a pretty neat museum, lots of cool carriages, and here we are sitting in one.

I'm Alive

Well, I just thought I should write a quick note since its been quite the lapse since my last. Our trip to Cardston was great, everything went smoothly and it was nice to go to a sealing where I could pay a little more attention :)

On Tuesday we left to Jasper and skiied/snowboarded Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. My body paid a price but it was a great trip. I promise to post pictures soon. The weather was perfect and it made me and Chris ever wonder why we would ski in -30 weather in December?!? Marmot Basin is a nice resort. There were lots of trees and trails that were fun to explore. Our hotel room was a loft with a kitchenette which was cool and we had an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room.....more pictures will come. I'd better go though, we are finishing up the last episode of season 2 of the office, a gooder I think.

A Good Day

Pretty flowers from Chris

Last night Chris and I enjoyed a nice Valentine's Day. For dinner we went to the Oodle Noodle Box, which is a favorite of ours where you get delicious Asian food in a box with chopsticks. We took that home and ate it with some sparkling grape juice in fancy glasses. Then Chris made me from scratch homemade banana cream pie. It was delicious. He even made the crust which was a graham cracker crust, which I think tastes so much better. We watched National Treasure and played some Scrabble, it was a good day.

The wonderful Banana Cream Pie and the wonderful husband!

On Holiday

Today I finished my last midterm (before reading week) and handed in my last paper, so now I am officially on holiday! I do have some reading catch up to do, but I'll take advantage of car time to do that. Since Chris is also done all his exams, he eagerly grabbed the sixth Harry Potter to start reading (which he wasn't allowed to read until reading week). Tomorrow we are headed down to Cardston for Chirs' best man's wedding. Then on Tuesday we are going to Jasper for three nights and three days of skiing and snowboarding! I am so excited! Which reminds me, I really need to get my board waxed....

Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Bathroom Education

On the topic of Scrabble, I found this list in the Bathroom Reader just today that is a list of vowel-less words apparently accepted in Scrabble. I don't know about some of them, but I'm not one to question the Bathroom Reader!

1. Nth
2. Sh
3. Shh
4. Cwm
5. Pht
6. Tsk
7. Pfft
8. Brrr
9. Phpht
10. Crwth
11. Tsktsk

Scrabble Night

Here is our scrabble game. Like I noted on Jill's page, sometimes we let things slide and allow two words to become one word. We definitly play house rules, but I don't think anything's wrong with that.

oh, and I must have exaggerated Chris' score on Jills page, only 271, but thats still pretty good, considering it was the first time he broke 100!

More of me.....

Here's some more wedding pictures...I have so many, I think it makes it even harder to choose what you like. These are some of my favorites, the computer was being slow, so I'll have to post more later.

Early Temptations

I know it is only day 2 on lent, but I've already had temptations, well actually I had them on Ash Wednesday. I had made chocolate chip banana loaf on Monday night and it was oh so delicious. What I didn't expect was to still have some around the house Wednesday and Thursday. Luckily Pam, Chris' sister came by Wednesday so I fed her a bunch. If only I hadn't added the chocolate chips....if only!

Study Buddy

I signed up to do this Study Buddy volunteer program where you go to a school and work with one or a group of students. Yesterday I found out the particulars. I'm going to a Jr. High school and I go once a week on Monday mornings for 2 class blocks. I was assigned to a grade 7 science class and a grade 8 science class. I start next week and I'm very excited! It'll be a good chance to see if I would like to be in a Jr. High setting, and a good experience to be in a school before my practicum. Hopefully I can remember junior high science......

Getting it done

Chris just wanted me to note that he is now finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He'll be starting book 6 once reading week hits, which is only 2 weeks away.

I would like to take the credit in getting Chris to read Harry Potter, but I really just can't. It's all J.K., I may get them started, but her wonderful writing is really what hooks them.

Heads up

Just to remind everyone that Lent begins this Wednesday. It seems a little early, I know, so I didn't want anyone to miss it. This year I'm giving up the usual chocolate and also fast food. One day I would like to do the no desserts at all like the Lemons, but I think I would need more support from my other half before I tried that one. Chris is giving up McDonalds again...and maybe fast food in general. I'm not sure.

What else are people giving up?
