Canada Day 2016 Part 2 - Backyard Family Olympics
We have a such a great group of friends we've found who were all willing to put our lovely friendship aside for a serious and competitive backyard Olympic games! Haha! We really had a great day. We started with a backyard bbq and hot dog bar. After stuffing ourselves we competed in 8 events, and no family member was excluded. Thankfully 8 month pregnant Arife was such a great sport and willing to compete in the trampoline bummer contest! (No early labour was induced :)
Medals were handed out for each event as well as a team finish. We came third (gracious hosts)!
I wish I had a picture, but we even had a cool paper torch representing the Olympic flame. At the end of the night we had a backyard fire and we lit the torch on fire and quickly took pictures with all the kids (on other people's phones). We had to act fast, the last girl almost burnt herself. Hehe!
It was a great event, hopefully to be repeated!!
Canada Day 2016 Part One - Legislature Grounds
Obviously I'm posting this 8.5 months later, so the memory is a bit fuzzy. What I remember is this is the first year we went to the legislature grounds for our free pancake breakfast and we didn't get breakfast! It was the busiest we have ever seen with crazy long lines that were not worth it. It did put a damper to the start of our day :(
The sunny weather and warm water cheered us up fast and we had a great morning!
