The Weekend

Sorry no pictures with this post. I had planned to post pictures of us playing in the sun and sand at the beach on Saturday, but the weather did not agree. After a beautiful week of 24-27 degrees (Celsius) and plans to spend the weekend out of doors, we had clouds, winds, rain, and low temperatures all weekend. How disheartening!
So instead we spent the weekend mostly inside. Saturday we went to West Ed Mall with Chris’s sister Pam and her boyfriend and played some rockband. In the evening our ward had an adults only ward party (sounds shady I know!). It was great. They did a little dinner theatre that included beef and bean enchiladas, salad, fruit, chocolate fondue, and a lot of ABBA songs. It was fun and a short program; we were outta there by 7:30. We rented ‘New in Town.’ It was cute. We watched the extras where they had a whole 15 minute segment about how Winnipeg is the coldest place in the world and all the actors and crew talked about how cold it was, and how nice the people were! Sunday we taught our primary class and spent the day relaxing and reading. I am reading ‘The Hunger Games’ as per Jill’s request and completely agree, it is great. I am almost done, I can’t put it down. And that all. No work on Wednesday for Canada Day. Hopefully it will be nicer than our weekend weather….

One Tree

They have finally started to do some landscaping and yesterday we got our tree! No soil or sod yet, but the tree has arrived. We are also supposed to get some small shrubs too. They only do our front yard, but I can't wait to have some nice grass. Also, today I was officially called to primary to teach with Chris. It should be fun.
Happy Father's Day to all the papas. Chris got two large chocolate bars from our ward and we are having his family over later today for a BBQ.

Open Sesame!

Last weekend handyman Chris installed are garage door opener! We bought the opener on sale at Sears and even get a mail-in keypad (which is yet to come but we are excited about). After a lot of hard work and sweat, and a little help from some friendly neighbours, we now have a remote controlled opener. I'm very much looking forward to not having to brush the snow of the car in the winter!
A little proof that is actually opens!

Lovin' the Basement

Now that my class if over I can finally direct my attention to my neglected and very messy house. This weekend I spent time organizing the basement, and it was the perfect weekend to do so. We had really hot weather all day Saturday and today so working down there on Saturday was refreshing. I can tell I'm going to really appreciate our basement this summer and its cool climate.

Tastes as Good as it Looks

On Sunday I was in a baking mood, so along with making homemade buns I made this delicious chocolate peanutbutter cake. It was the first cake from scratch that I have ever made and it turned out wonderful! It has given me the courage to try more new recipes. Hmmm just looking at it makes me salivate...
Alos, I finished my personal finance class today. Yay!! I am so glad to be done and have the summer really begin.

Things Going On

I have only one week left of my personal finance class and I will be so happy when it's done. It will finally feel like summer. I have found it very useful and practical though, and hopefully I will apply what I have learned. I definitly feel more educated and like I would be able to carry on a respectable conversation about finances...but who really knows.
Last Sunday Chris got called to be a primary worker. He is teaching the 4 year olds turning 5. He has a class of about 6, pretty equal between boys and girls. Since he has to work a couple of Sundays this summer, I will be helping him out on those days, but other than that I have yet to receive a calling, I did get my visiting teaching route though, so I'll get to know some of the sisters in the ward. The weather here has been pretty nice, with a few windy and cooler days in between. We have been enjoying our new BBQ very much. Tonight we had BBQ chicken and steak fajitas with fruit salad for dessert. I said to Chris, this is a very 'Cutts' meal. It was delicious!

Notice the lego?!? Maybe his primary kids will be more appreciative of it than I!!

Spring Creations

Here are a few of my latest creations. Our ward is having an auction to raise money for girls camp and I volunteered a package of greeting cards. So I've been working on cards for that and creating really nice ones, my fear is that no one will bid past 25 cents fo them. Let's hope that doesn't come true!
