Macy's 5th Birthday

It is still strange to think that Macy is 5 years old. A lot happens when you turn 5, not the least of which is that she is now in kindergarten. It seems like since she turned 5 everything became, 'you can do this now because you're 5' and all of a sudden she could do it. Like the monkey bars! But I digress. We had a lot of fun celebrating Macy's birthday. She had a friend birthday party earlier in July before Chris went out of town. Compared to last year's party, it was a dream. We had fewer kids and they were so much better behaved and into the whole birthday party thing (probably because they were now 5)!
We did an outdoor beach party theme. I was so happy with how the cake turned out, and it was super easy to do. We did some colouring and made 'ocean bottles', opened gifts, and then went outside for water games. Chris prepared a ton of water balloons...I mean there were laundry baskets full of them, which the kids absolutely loved. We did some relay and tossing games, and then all the kids got water guns and we had a water fight. Chris pulled out his super awesome water gun and got us all. We ate cake and candy and popcorn, and before we knew it the party was over. Best of all, Rachel napped through it all!
Tristan, Macy, Angie, Avelynn, and Lucy.
Macy's actual birthday was a busy day. Chris got home the night before and the next day we were leaving for our summer holidays in Ontario and Winnipeg.
She opened gifts right away. Mostly clothes and necessary items. She got a flash light and beach towel in preparation for our summer trip. Her big gift was supposed to be horse back riding on our trip, but that got postponed, more details in another post.
 Clearly excited!
The big pink flash light was a hit. It even has a strobe light effect!
Since I didn't want to gift wrap this present for Chris (his birthday happened on our trip), he got to open one present, a beach towel! I also got one for my birthday.
Since we already did birthday cake at her party, we did birthday pancakes with sparklers and sang to her at breakfast!
The weather wasn't the greatest, I believe there was some rain, so in the afternoon Macy and I went to the movies to see the Minions movie. We had dinner at Tim Horten's and got ready for our big trip.
Happy Birthday to Macy, the best 5 year old out there!!!
So this is just a random picture of the cake I did for the 4th of July. We had the missionaries over for dinner. One was Canadian and the other who was American didn't seem to care that we made an effort to BBQ and celebrate Independence day. We even had sparklers! Oh well. It was a chocolate cake and so delicious!
