On the Mend

Last week Macy got sick, just the common cold, but it was not common to us. Just as she started feeling better Chris got sick, and then I got sick. Yuck! It has not been fun. Especially since I don't seem to be able to shake this cold as quickly as usual. My nose has been so stuffed that I can't smell anything or enjoy a good meal, however one perk is that no sense of smell, means no stinky diapers for me!

Macy

Macy is already 7 months old. I remember thinking anything past 6 months was so far away, and yet here we are.

Here's a little bit about what this little girl is like:

-She loves to smile and smiles at everyone, which always makes them feel good.

-She loves eating solid foods. Suprising to me, she loves peas (I don't), she also loves her baby cereals, and pears.

-Her favorite toy is the remote control, symbolic of the power she holds over us.

-She can now roll over both ways and will probably be moving across the floor anytime now.

-She loves to jump! The jolly jumper is great for that, but she will bounce pretty much anytime and anywhere.

-She's really into making bubbles and spitting now, not very lady like.

-She is great and lifting her legs and walking when her Dad hold her up.

-She may be quiet while she is around a lot of people, but at home she has no problem making herself heard.

-She has one front tooth, it's pretty sharp.

-She has a great day routine, but there is room for improvement in the sleeping at night department.

-She is fun and cute and we love her!

The Definition of Domesticity

For Christmas this year I got a wheat grinder from my in-laws. I was excited to test it out and see what it could do.
Here is my wheat. The Lamont's have a ton of it, so I'll never have to worry about buying any.
My fancy dancy wheat grinder.
Into the mill.
My whole wheat flour.
My first test recipe, apple coffee cake. It turned out well, but I thought it had too much wheaty taste. I tried the wheat flour on a banana cake recipe next and after it tasting too wheaty as well, I was about to give up on my wheat flour for good. But today I wanted to try baking bread for the first time. So I pulled out my wheat flour again, and I'm glad I did.
The bread was delicious. I used half white and half wheat flour, but I think next time I will try more wheat. I don't know, but I don't think you can get too much more domestic than grinding your own flour and making homemade bread!
