Busy Weekend

Here's a little update of what we've been up to this weekend. Friday night out ward had a "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" activity. We went to the Mexican family in our ward and had a delicious mexican meal. It was a soup like dish with chicken, pork, and apparently a pig's hoof. It was topped with chopped radishs, onions, and lettuce, and fresh lime juice. It was yummy. We were supposed to bring dessert, not so convienent considereing Lent, so we just brought mint chocolate chip ice cream, and I didn't have any. After that we stopped by at a friend's birthday party and had fun visiting.
Saturday morning I went to the Temple with our Relief Soceity Presidency. It was a 9am session, so not too early. Then for lunch I went to another friends birthday party. It was very nice, just about six women, and their kids (I was the only non-mother there). We had fresh fruit, a ham and cheese type casserole that was very tasty, and german pancakes. Again there was a chocolate cake, but I opted out (only two more weeks!!!). It was a really fun party. Later in the day I went to help a sister in our ward clean her apartment as she was moving. Then for dinner we went over to other friends for dinner and games. We had chicken strips to start, and then sweet and sour meatballs with rice and a salad. It was very tasty.
So even though it was busy, it was full of delicious food, non of which I had to prepare, a nice treat.

Big News!!

So....Chris and I just bought a home! It is a side-by-side as shown below. We own the right side only. It is brand new, with brand new appliances too! (Cannot wait for the washer and dryer)! It has three bedrooms upstairs with one and a half baths. Once all the snow melts it will be landscaped in the front and on the side. We also have a nice deck in the backyard already up. We are so excited. Visitors are welcome and we can make room for all sizes of families!
The rest of these pictures I got from the MLS listing for our neighbour. So everything would be flipped, but otherwise the plans are about the same. The cabinets in our unit are darker though. But you get the idea. We'll keep posting pictures as we move in. Oh yes, we take possession April 27th.
The living area with a gas fireplace.
Our kitchen, so much counter space!!!
The kitchen and eating area with patio doors to the back.

The deck.
The full bathroom.

Stamping

Chris was out of town for 2 days so I had a little fun on my own. The first two I made as a part of the stamp club I go to monthly. I got the supplies from my demonstrator and had to do these ones at home since I missed the February class when I was out of town. The last two are creations of my own.
The butterfly one is actually a 3D box.
I know these are pictures I could post on Mi Casa Su Casa, but I have a hard enough time coming up with stuff for this blog, sorry Alicia :(

New Love

This semester I am taking a computing science 101 class. I had to take it to fulfill my computing requirement. However, I could have taken the easy computing class for education students and learned how to use excel for the hundreth time (not exactly my second love, sorry Taylor). Instead I went for the challenge and took my computing class directly from the computing science department. After the first class, I'll admit I was regreting my choice and very worried as the teacher spewed words like algorthims, pseudocodes, and networking. But it was too late to make a change, and I am so glad it was. I love this computing class. We learn to write little programs and codes, lots of algorithms (which aren't as scary as I thought). It is challenging and the assigments and test take time to think things through, but it is fun..plus I am doing super well in it, better than any other class I've ever taken! Too bad I'm already in my seventh year of university and just don't feel like another career change. A new hobby perhaps!

Desserts

It's been just about 2 weeks since Lent started, and suprisingly I haven't gone into withdrawal yet. I have been eating lots of raisins, craisins, fruit-to-go etc to get the sweet craving. Last week we had the missionaries over and I served fruit compote for desset (warmed fruit with a little brown sugar and butter). They liked it. So I'm wondering what other healthy desserts you guys may have made or tried??

Hot Tubs and Police Officers

I forgot to post this before of the hotel room we had when we were in Jasper. This year we tried a different place out. We got a King bed (a necessity for all holidays) and there was a mini fridge in the wood cabinet, so we still had our own breakfast and made lunches to take to the hill. The hotel was nice, they had a great pool and jacuzzi area and then two additional hot tubs outside, and a sauna. The place was much busier than the hotel we were at last year. The first night there was a school ski trip staying there so they occupied the pool, which was a little annoying (plus the outdoor hot tubs were closed the first night). Then our last night we had these really, really, loud neighbours. It was about 3 am and we could hear them shouting, going on and on, so finally Chris calls the front desk to complain. Hotel security comes and lets them know they need to quiet down or they'll call the police. They get a little better, but about half an hour later hotel security shows up (we can hear all the conversation from our bed) and say they have called the police. Then the police show up. It was quiet entertaining, even though it was frustrating since it was almost 4 am. Anyway, this couple was obviously drunk, and did know show well for themselves. I won't try and repeat the conversation, cause I couldn't do it justice, but really, some people need to know when to stop (drinking and talking).

Cutting Edge

Last week I got my hair done. I went to a pretty fancy salon (accidentally, I meant to go to their Acadamy) and felt very pampered. It was a little pricy, but I love the cut and the rest of their services.

Soccer Stud

For the last 5 and half months Chris has been playing on a community men's league soccer team. Tonight is their last game. His team started off really strong and were 2nd in the league during the first half of the season. Unfoutunately, the second half wasn't so strong. Chris started playing goalie, and after hurting his wrist moved to defense.
Scraped knees became a regular occurance.

Rubbing it in

More of us on the mountains...just to rub it in a little more.
This is one run we did that was black diamond moguls. Personally I don't think the picture does it justice. It was a steep run, plus there were so many rocks..I think Chris forgot that he was renting and I owed my board!!! Either way, my legs were burning by the end.
