No pictures from these days (probably why I've taken so long to finish up this trip series). We left the Coulam's house a little after 7 am and drove all the way to Idaho Falls, ID. Everyone was getting used to being in the car and the routine of it all. We tried to stop at a Smitty's Pancake house to have a sit down breakfast, since it was only about 10:30 am and we were hungry and ready for a stop. The wait was too long though, so McDonald's it was! But I have to admit, I really like McDonald's breakfast and the kids liked the pancakes, plus the play place.
From Idaho Falls we drove until Helena where we had a quick break to get gas and go to the bathroom. We then drove to Great Falls, Montana where we stopped for the night. We ate dinner at Cafe Rio, so delicious. This hotel had an indoor pool which we had all to ourselves. We all enjoyed swimming, though I wished there was a hot tub.
Sunday morning we had continental breakfast at the hotel. No waffles this time, but there was cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice, and some baked goods. The staff was great and enjoyed talking to Macy and smiling at Rachel and gave both girls some free goodies for the road. We also took advantage of the hot chocolate to go, as it was a cold morning. We left again just after 7 am and stopped once in a little, little town (I don't even remember the name) to get gas just before we crossed the US Canadian border. We had no troubles at the border this time and with no cars in front of us, we hardly stopped at all. We made it to Lethbridge where Chris was craving McDonald's (I don't know how after a week of travelling and fast foods someone could still crave McDonald's, but I suppose if someone could, it would be Chris!), so we stopped there for breakfast/lunch as it was just before 11 am. From Lethbridge we made it to Red Deer for bathroom breaks and then home to Sherwood Park by 5 pm.
It was so nice to be in our own beds again and the girls in their own rooms.
We had such a great time. Thanks especially to all the family we saw for making it so wonderful and being such gracious hosts. We will definitely visit again!
