Cruise Day One: Sunday Jan 29, 2017

Excerpt from my line a day journal: "Got on our cruise today! Long wait for shuttles and to board. We ate lunch in the Wind Jammer and then had a hot tub before we even left port."
What I remember about this day was definitely waiting forever to even get on the ship! Also, the weather in Houston when we left on the shuttle at 6:30 am to Galveston was 4 degrees Celsius, colder than the unusually warm weather Edmonton was having!
Once we were on board we ate lunch first. We didn't have access to our room yet so we decided to take a self guided tour of the boat, starting at the top. Once we reached the pool and hot tub deck, I believe deck 11, we decided we needed to start this trip out right and get in the hot tub!
We are excited!!!
After the hot tub we continued our tour and figuring out where things were before getting to our room. I had started to get a cold the day before so once we got in our room I laid down to rest a little. I was promptly awoken by a broadcast on the main speaker informing us to go for Muster Drill. It was so loud and you had no control of the volume, it felt a little like when the Capitol makes announcements in The Hunger Games. Anyway, we waited till last minute before we went to the drill. After I was feeling better so we walked around more as the boat got ready to depart.
Inside the ship on the promenade level.
Just another ship beside us in port, I believe Carnival. (We sailed on Royal Caribbean). We just couldn't get over how big the boat really is.
I really like these pictures, too bad the back drop is the Galveston Texas Industrial Parks.
We ate dinner in the dining hall, the food the entire trip was amazing, especially in the main dining room. I still wasn't feeling fantastic, so we didn't go to the Welcome on Board show, which I regret. We did go for another hot tub and steam room before bed, trying to get rid of my dreaded cold!
